WHY DEITY SERVICE?

Besides Spiritual Knowledge & Chanting the Vedic Mantras the center of the Vedic philosophy is the Deity or Murti Service (layman word is worship). Without Deity service it is very difficult to reach the stage of perfection which is to Love God unconditionally and we will fall down from the Spiritual path. By performing Devotional services religiously which includes Deity service, we develop a Devotional attitude or mentality in our daily lives. Development comes with Devotion towards God, not by the knowledge. Divinity is in proportion to the Devotion to God. Humanity is included in Spirituality.

Deity Service means offering our service to the Deity of God in his personal form. There is no difference between the God manifest either in matter or spirit because both are his energies. His manifestation in material form (arca-vigrha or Deity) therefore is as good as his original Spiritual form the Sat-Chit-Ananda (means Absolute Truth-Consciousness- Bliss) which is now manifested in Vigraha or Deity Form.

The main reason for God to manifest in a Deity form is that through Deity service God can reciprocate his loving exchange with his devotees. There is complete satisfaction, inner fulfillments & joy by serving our loved one or God wholeheartedly by ourselves rather than only through the mind. Even in our day to day life without the presence of our loved one in front of us and without serving them it is difficult to express our emotions & love ❤️.

Serving the Deity or God together in the Temple creates the nice Spiritual atmosphere & association. A Deity is decorated very beautifully and give us satisfaction & joy by having Darsana (seeing). Deity service also includes offering home made fresh satvik food to God. Eating Prasadam (pure sanctified food) after offering the God indirectly prevent us from eating unhealthy food. Our physical & mental health also depend on kinds of food we eat.

DEITY SERVICE is also a kind of MEDIATION to PURIFY our SENSES & INTELLIGENCE.

The process of meditation recommended in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is not to fix one’s attention on something impersonal or void. The more one concentrates on the transcendental form of the Lord, the more one becomes purified.

DEITY WORSHIP is not an IDOL WORSHIP but it is an IDEAL WORSHIP. Deity worship is perfect science not a sentiment.

Bg 12.5 -- For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied.

Bg 12.6-7 -- But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Pṛthā – for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death.

SB 2.2.13 -- The process of meditation should begin from the lotus feet of the Lord and progress to His smiling face. The meditation should be concentrated upon the lotus feet, then the calves, then the thighs, and in this way higher and higher. The more the mind becomes fixed upon the different parts of the limbs, one after another, the more the intelligence becomes purified. Vedabase.com

Have a Devotional Service Day.

It is easy to say, but difficult to follow. I am in the same boat with everyone else, or I may even be behind, but thinking in the right direction will help us to go in the right direction.

Thank You.

MY SPIRITUAL INSPIRATION , SOURCE & THE GURUS:

I am inspired to hear & read the Vedic Scriptures by regularly listening to Sri Pandurang Shashtri Athvale, also known as Dadaji ( speaks on Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Veda based discourses & western philosophy ) and the association of Swadhyay Parivar every Sunday in Swadhya Kendra.

I also hear and read the discourses & literature on Vedic thoughts from Srila Prabhupada, his disciples & grand disciples ( HH Bhakti Rasamitra Swami, HH Chaitanya Charandas Prabhu, Shubha Vilas Prabhu, Sutapa Das, Amarnath Dasa, HH Bhakticharu Swami, HH Urmila Devi Dasi, HH Sivarama Swami, HH Radhanath Swami, HH Romapada Swami, Lal Govind Prabhu ( Gujarati & Hindi) Prahalad Maharaj in Surat (Gujarati) .......and many more from ISKCON......).

FYI: A good source of Vedic literature: Vedabase.com . Srimad Bhagavad Gita is the essence & Srimad Bhagavatam (SB) is the nectar of all Vedic scriptures. Repeatedly hearing/reading & meditating the Scriptures, Eating Sanctified Pure Food and Chanting Vedic Mantras are nourishing to our heart (Soul), transcendental to our consciousness, purifying to our senses and thus helps us to overcome our weaknesses or deficiencies. Yes, we do have good qualities within us but there is always a room for improvement.

It is always a good idea to share our good thoughts & knowledge with others. Thanks to the Facebook/Social media for providing me the platform. Of course I use Smartphone/Google Pexels search to collect some data.

Besides my parents, wife, teachers, family & friends GREATFUL to EVERYONE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED in MY LIFE. Hopefully my enthusiasm will continue by Grace of the Guru & God ( Krishna , Absolute Truth ).

NOTE:
Many times a word Hearing is used instead of Listening when it comes to the Scriptures. Because Scriptures are so potent that simply by Hearing them even if you don’t try to interpret or analyze or understand them still there will be passive positive effects on our mind & senses.

We can follow either the Quran, Bible,Torah, Tripitaka, Agama, Guru Granth Sahib, Gita or any other Philosophy which makes sense to us, purifies us, elevates our consciousness and qualifies us to understand God and instill the love of God & his creation. ( whichever way we can understand God -- either Personal with many names or Impersonal as an universal consciousness & energy ).

Don’t try to understand God by Name, Religion or Depiction ( means image, picture...etc ) but try to understand him by the Definition through Scriptures. The Transcendental subject of God & his creation cannot be understood by mental speculation. Some times people ask why God is Supreme? It is just like asking why is the circle circular? Just by definition, the circle is circular. Similarly by definition, God is unborn, complete, unlimited, infinite, eternal, the Absolute Truth the source of everything, cause of all causes.

I see God, besides the above mentioned qualities, as an eternal living person ( not a abstract or some kind of light ) known by the name KRISHNA meaning one who attracts everyone has also MANY other NAMES, forms, abodes, incarnations, activities, qualities, associates, is full of wisdom, bliss, and the cause of all causes.

Bg 9.17 -- I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable oṁ. I am also the Ṛg, the Sāma and the Yajur Vedas.

Bg:13-12:-- Accepting the importance of self-realization; and philosophical search for the Absolute Truth ( God ) – all these I declare to be knowledge, and besides this whatever there may be is ignorance. ( Vedabase.com ).

AGE to LEARN THE KNOWLEDGE:

Write the Blog to Implement the Knowledge AND Read the Blog to Associate with Knowledge...LOL 😂 😝 😆. We can have everlasting reformation & revolution in society if everyone of us gets educated & trained during childhood to become spiritually conscious about our identities, duties, behaviour & health.

Many times, people have misconceptions that spiritual knowledge should be taught during old age. At what age do we start the school? Is it at 5 or 55?..LOL 😆. So why discriminate either Material or Spiritual knowledge? Although there is no age limit to learn the knowledge but if we learn early, then we can implement early. In our old age it is very difficult to learn & implement new concepts into life. Evolution is better then Revolution.

Ideally speaking Spiritual knowledge should be taught while in the Mothers womb. Spiritual Knowledge is everlasting treasure which remains with us forever even after death and continues in the next life. Yes, Spiritual knowledge will show us how to live in this world & how to leave this world...LOL 😂.

Bg 6.41 -- The unsuccessful yogī, after many, many years of enjoyment on the planets of the pious living entities, is born into a family of righteous people, or into a family of rich aristocracy. Vedabase.com

Bg 6.42 -- Or [if unsuccessful after long practice of yoga] he takes his birth in a family of transcendentalists who are surely great in wisdom. Certainly, such a birth is rare in this world.

Bg 6.43 -- On taking such a birth, he revives the divine consciousness of his previous life, and he again tries to make further progress in order to achieve complete success, O son of Kuru.

Bg 6.44 -- By virtue of the divine consciousness of his previous life, he automatically becomes attracted to the yogic principles – even without seeking them. Such an inquisitive transcendentalist stands always above the ritualistic principles of the scriptures.

Have a Knowledge Learning Day.

It is easy to say, but difficult to follow. I am in the same boat with everyone else, or I may even be behind, but thinking in the right direction will help us to go in the right direction.

MAYA or ILLUSION:

Write the Blog to understand the Maya & Read the Blog to stay away from Maya......LOL 😂 😝 😆.

Illusion or Maya is a commonly used word in the Scriptures and in our day to day life. This material world which appears real to us, activities performed by the living entities are also real, then what is Maya or Illusion? Maya or Illusion means the unreal appears real to us. For example, accepting a rope as a snake is an illusion, but the rope is not false.

In general every one of us has a strong desire to enjoy & control this Material world meaning wealth, power, position, beauty, fame & husband..LOL. This temporary physical body which is the product of this material world makes us think that everything belongs to me. We know from our own experience that any kind of achievement and enjoyment in this world is temporary, but in time everything disappear from our life, nothing belongs to us. In reality this Material world is energy of the God, meaning God is not separate from this world, he is everywhere. When we think that God’s energy is separate from him and we try to possess & exploit it, it is defined as Maya or Illusion. There are few other points described below to understand the Maya or Illusion.

1. Maya is seeing myself as a physical body rather then Soul. A physical body is temporary but a soul is eternal.

2. Maya is seeing ourselves as a proprietor of this world. Five basic ingredients ( earth, water, fire, ether and air ) of any creation either animate or inanimate are not manufactured by humans, so we are not a proprietor of this world.

3. Maya is ignorance about existence of the God or Absolute Truth (whichever way we can understand the God) the source of everything. It is illusion to consider the God as one of the common men like us. Sometimes God can behave like ordinary man, therefore the Lord is described as māyā-manuṣya.

4. Maya means unlimited desires to enjoy this world or absorbing ourselves in sense gratification and forgetting about what the purpose of my life is? Maya means to absorb ourselves in worldly mundane talk rather than subject of the self realization.

5. Maya means forgetfulness about my origin due to too many births........that I am part & parcel of the Supreme.

6. Maya means not realising that Birth-Aging-Disease and Death is the real problem of life AND how to resolve these real issue of the life permanently?

7. Maya means ignorance about our own Demonic quality. Not having a faith in the Scriptures is also a kind of Illusion or Maya.

8. To think this whole world is Illusion or Maya is also a kind of Illusion...LOL.At a same time spending all of our energy only for material development is also a kind of Maya. It is notion that by acquiring material things will make me happy is Maya.

If this world is energy of the God then how can it be bad? If food is cooked by the mother then how can it be bad? Yes, food is not bad, but I will eat the food which is good for my health. Similarly this world is not bad, but I will accept the things from this world which is necessary for my survival & favorable to my Spiritual growth and rejects the things which is not favorable. In short Maya which connects us to the God is favorable--YOGA MAYA & Maya which disconnects us from the God is unfavorable--MAHA MAYA.

How to overcome Maya or Illusion?... .by practicing Spiritual Yoga which starts with the Hearing about me, the God and this universe from the Guru/Scriptures.

Have a Non-Illusory Day.

Thank You.

Bg 7.4 -- Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego – all together these eight constitute My separated material energies.

Bg 7.5 -- Besides these, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature.

Bg 7.19 -- After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be the cause of all causes and all that is. Such a great soul is very rare.

Bg:13-12:-- Accepting the importance of self-realization; and philosophical search for the Absolute Truth ( God ) – all these I declare to be knowledge, and besides this whatever there may be is ignorance. Vedabase.com

TWENTY FOUR GURUS:

We can learn many wisdoms of the life in early age if we are good observant. During ancient time one of the self realized soul Avadhut Brahmana had 24 Gurus in his life; this subjects matters described with enlightening messages in Vedic Scripture---the Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 11.7 to 11.9 total 118 slokas. Vedabase.com

List of Twenty Four Gurus: Earth ( includes Mountain & Trees ), Water, Fire, Air, Sky, Sun, Moon, Ocean, Moth or Firefly, Pigeon, Snake, Wasp, Python, Bees ( Bumblebee and Honeybee ), Elephant, Honey Thief, Deer, Prostitute, Hawks, Child, Young Girl, Spider, Fish and Arrow Maker.

In our day to day life we are surrounded by many loved one, other loving creatures and the nature itself. Simply by observing them-the creations of God; we can learn many wisdoms & valuable lessons of life and our consciousness will evolved further on the spiritual platform.

SB 11.7.11 -- One who has transcended material good and evil automatically acts in accordance with religious injunctions and avoids forbidden activities. The self-realized person does this spontaneously, like an innocent child, and not because he is thinking in terms of material good and evil.

SB 11.7.20 -- An intelligent person, expert in perceiving the world around him and in applying sound logic, can achieve real benefit through his own intelligence. Thus sometimes one acts as one’s own instructing spiritual master.

As always explained in very sound, eloquent and thoughtful language with deep meaningful transcendental messages.........by His Holiness Bhakti Rasamitra Swami.

WHY FESTIVALS ?

Why so many people in every culture, community & country are CELEBRATING the FESTIVALS? Are they wasting their energy, time & resources? Not At All. Just like many people enjoy their luxurious homes, expensive vacations, parties, hobbies, shopping, sports & movies Similarly many people enjoy celebrating the festivals...LOL. 😂 😝😆

A spiritual Journey has two parts: Philosophy & Rasa.

1. PHILOSOPHY: Spiritual knowledge through Guru/Scriptures helps us to know ourselves--introspection within, the God, an universe and relationship among each other. Repeatedly hearing/reading and meditating the Scriptures is nourishing to our heart (Soul), transcendental to our consciousness, purifying to our senses and thus helps us to overcome our weaknesses or deficiencies. Yes, we do have good qualities within us but there is always a room for improvement.

2. RASA or Entertainment on Spiritual Platform: Rasa means juicy. Spiritual Journey without Rasa become very dry & boring, it is like eating our favorite food without salt. Celebration of the God’s Festivals is the Rasa activities which is comprised of understanding the spiritual significance of festival, hearing/reading the pastimes of God, Chanting mantras, Singing devotional songs & dancing, Deity service and Eating Prasadam after offering to Deity of God.

Festivals bring plenty of joy, enthusiasm, vibes, positivity and feeling of togetherness in our lives which is uplifting to our spiritual consciousness. Festivities means Learning, Jumping, Dancing, Singing, Associating & Eating Prasadam.....All Fun but No stress. 😃. Thus Celebration of God’s Festival like DIWALI provide us both Enlightenment & Entertainment. We should be Grateful to volunteers & devotees for their tremendous efforts behind close doors. Yes, there is a some imperfection in executing any events because we are not perfect ourselves... 😂

Bg 10.11 -- To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.

Wishing You & Your Family Happy Diwali Holidays.

Pankaj & Dipika and Family.

Thank You.
