HURRICANE in LIFE:

With two back to back Hurricane Harvey & Irma many things disrupted in many people's life who ever came across on their path ( Irma is not done yet ). All of a sudden life become very chaotic, seems to be very troubling, disturbing and devastating.......everything is falling apart. People may feel that the universe is hostile toward them but we can't control Mother Nature.

Vedic Scripture SB 1.1.2 says in this world everyone of us forever affected by three fold of material miseries.

1. Misery arise from our own body & mind.

2. Misery inflicted by other living being. 

3. Misery caused by natural catastrophes over which one has no control.

Sometimes while driving on expressway we may have seen signs at the road work says " Temporary Inconvenience , Permanent Improvement". But in real life it is other way around " Temporary Improvement, Permanent Inconvenience".

SB: 10.14.58 says padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām:  There is struggle & danger at every steps in our life.

Hurricane like situation comes in many people's life. It is good to know that life hasn't always given us raw deal - we have had many things fall in place for us. Whenever we have achieved anything substantial it was not because of our efforts alone, but because of many things beyond our control falling in place. Everyone has to go through good and bad phases in life. Just as things have fallen in place in the past, they will fall in place in the future too. We just need to keep plugging on without becoming disheartened.  

"WHENEVER THINGS SEEM to FALL APART, REMEMBER WHEN THINGS HAVE FALLEN in PLACE".

Let's pray for Irma & Harvey victims and wishing for quick recovery in their life.

We can follow either Quran, Bible, Jainism, Buddhism, Gita or any other Philosophy that makes sense to us, purify us , elevate our consciousness and qualify us to understand the God and instill the love for God & his creation. ( whichever way we can understand the God, Form or Formless..or Universal Consciousness or Energy ...etc ).

Don’t try to understand God by Name, Religion & Depiction ( means image, picture...etc ) but try to understand him by Definition through Scriptures. Transcendental subjects of God & his creation can not be understand by mental speculation. Some times people ask why God is Supreme? It is just like asking why circle is circular? Just by definition circle is circular similarly by definition God is unborn, complete, unlimited, infinite, eternal, the Absolute Truth the source of everything, cause of all causes. 

I see the God besides above mention qualities as a eternal living person ( not a abstract or some kind of light ) known by name Krishna means who attracts everyone has also MANY other NAMES, form, abode, many incarnation, activities, qualities, associates, full of wisdom, bliss, cause of all causes.

DESTRUCTIVE MIND:

GUN VIOLENCE or any kind of CRIME or CRISIS in this world is by product of a DESTRUCTIVE MIND. Our mind is designed such a way that if it can't be constructive then by default it will be destructive. Idle mind is devil's workshop. 

All of us with our own experience & introspection know that our mind has to be occupied or engaged constantly to remain constructive either at work, at home, at entertainment or in any social activities we need to keep our mind busy. When we are focus with any activities our mind cooperate, yes it might oppose, grumble but still remain focus to finish the projects. Constructive activities force our mind to act constructively. The moments our mind get free will start thinking about lower mundane desires, cravings for something unheard or start worrying about everything or have negative & destructive ideas. By default our mind is designed such a way if not engaged or occupied in constructive work then it will become destructive.

As long as we control our mind it is our best friend, the moments it start controlling us it is our own greatest enemy.  Suppose we own or working for company or big firms or corporations, we are constantly engage in activities which are profitable to our company. Similarly our own mind & body is also like a company or corporations, we need to captivate them in constructive works to make it profitable otherwise they will destroy us. 

Besides our profession we can also keep our mind busy in activities of daily living. These can be very constructive and satisfying....like helping your spouse in kitchen for preparing fresh palatable meals , going for walk together with spouse or friends talking about your day to day activities, helping your friends.....etc. Also spend free times with spouse & family for future planning to avoid pointless worries. In short we should keep our mind fully engaged in professional & social responsibility. QUESTION is WHAT WE SHOULD DO in FREE TIME? 

In free time best way to occupy mind besides social responsibilities & little entertainment is for ENLIGHTENMENT means hearing & reading Scriptures , chanting Holly Mantra, Spiritual Yoga, writing & sharing spiritual thoughts.....etc. These Spiritual activities will strengthen our mind and keep us away from negative, destructive thoughts & ideas......will be productive to ourselves & society. If we can not utilize our mind to UPGRADE ourselves in terms of higher values then by default it will DEGRADE us.

Bg 6.5 — One must deliver himself with the help of his mind, and not degrade himself. The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul, and his enemy as well. ( Vedabase.com )

Bg 6.6 — For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.

BOGUS GURU:

In recent days due to much more awareness & easy accessibility of media we are coming-across Bogus Guru's scandals more often. This is also one of the global crisis like environmental, economical, political crisis......to stay away or escape from bogus guru. It is heartbreaking for people who they are committed for many years turn out to be one of the Bogus Guru.

In age of Kaliyuga ( mode of darkness ) it is not easy for people to find Genuine Guru.  You can follow anyone but before committing to either Theist or Atheist Guru do your homework & think 100 times....Mentally be prepared that anyone & everyone is fallible in this world...except Genuine Guru & GOD. ( so you won't be disappointed in case if it happens in your life ).

WHO is GENUINE SPIRITUAL GURU?

Six chief criteria mentioned in the authoritative Vedic scriptures determine the authority of a guru. 

1. First, the guru’s teachings must be fully spiritual: he must not cheat his disciples by promising them material benefits; rather, he must teach them how to become free from material life to progress toward Self realization and obtain liberation from birth-death cycle.

2. Second, the guru must have attained the highest realization of the Absolute Truth–the Personality of Godhead–which is beyond the incomplete impersonal conception. In this way the Guru will be competent to distinguish the infinite Supreme Spirit (God) and the infinitesimal ( minute ) spirit souls. Fully aware of this distinction between God and the individual soul, he should engage himself as a devotee of the Supreme Lord and teach devotional service to his disciples or followers.

3. The third criterion is that the guru must have received his knowledge from a bona fide spiritual master through the authorized process of disciplic succession, as explained in the Vedic literature...Following footsteps of Lord Vedavyasa.

4. The fourth is that the guru’s character must be pure: he must rigidly follow all the religious principles governing saintly behavior. “‘A SOBER PERSON WHO CAN TOLERATE THE URGE TO SPEAK, THE MIND’S DEMANDS, THE ACTIONS OF ANGER, AND THE URGES OF THE TONGUE, BELLY, AND GENITALS IS QUALIFIED TO MAKE DISCIPLES ALL OVER THE WORLD.’ 

5. Fifth, he must engage himself and others in the glorification of the Lord as the ultimate activity for human society, and he should not divert his energies to material welfare work. 

6. And sixth, a guru of the highest order must spread the message of God as spoken & described in Scriptures ( not his own message ) throughout the world.

The Vedic literature ( like Srimad Gita & Bhagavatam, Vedabase.com ) is a complete library for understanding life, the purpose of the creation, how the cosmos manifested, spiritual identity of the individual as an eternal soul, Supreme Being ( God ), the relationship between them, and the pathways for directly realizing and perceiving these.

Bg 4.2 — This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. 

Bg 14.26 — One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances, at once transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level of Brahman or Guru.

Bg 18.42 — Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and religiousness – these are the natural qualities by which the brāhmaṇas ( Guru ) work. ( Vedabase.com ).

SB 11.3.21 — One who is inquisitive to understand the highest goal and benefit of life must approach a bona fide spiritual master.

DHARMA in CORPORATE WORLD:

Applicable to all of us in our day to day life, in our profession, as a business entrepreneur irrespective of nationality or religion. 

Explained in very sound, eloquent & thoughtful language with deep meaningful message behind it and thoughtful questions from audience at Artha Forum gathering ( organization of business entrepreneurs ). ......by His Holiness Bhakti Rasamitra Swami.

Few highlights from lecturer.

1. GREED IS MY GOD. Our greed is driving force behind expansion of our business or to move higher in our profession.

2. Compassion in Capitalism. We should climb our ladder with compassion not with greed.

3. Dharma or Duty has 4 legs: Basics principal of Human life. tapaḥ ( Austerity) śaucaṁ ( Cleanliness) dayā (Mercy) and satyam ( Truthfulness). 

A. Austerity: We should take voluntary inconveniences for benefits of other or for higher cause. In business or in our profession we should not cut the corner, not try to take route of easy way out, don't take path of least resistance, don't succumb by temptation...etc.  We live in society where our success is measured by how much money I have rather then how I earn that money? It is difficult to resist temptation when it comes to making money. Austerity is destroyed by intoxication means consuming anything which affects your consciousness. With intoxication we loose our sense of discrimination of what is right or wrong.

B. Cleanliness: Cleanliness of mind. Our decision or action is depend on our mind. Mind get agitated & restless with greed, anger, envy, possessiveness thoughts, can't make right decision. Mind should be feed with good thoughts, spiritual practices, keeping good company..etc. to make a thoughtful decision at work & home.

C. Mercy: Compassionate to your subordinate. Helping your spouse & family members at home.  Looking after your colleague, family & friends....etc. WE FIND OURSELVES  by THINKING ABOUT OTHERS. Mentality of sharing your wealth/profit in corporations. End of the day nothing belongs to you. We are not proprietor of this wealth & world.

D. Truthfulness:  Action or words spoken should be truthful, pleasant & beneficial to society. No speculative business. Expand your business on moral ethical principles. Try to earn & spend wealth with good consciousness.

SB 11.17.16 — Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, cleanliness, satisfaction, tolerance, simple straightforwardness, devotion to Me, mercy and truthfulness are the natural qualities of the brāhmaṇas ( saintly person ) vedabase.com

PROUD MOMENTS for INDIA:

Expressing my opinion & thoughts few days before...AUGUST 15th...INDIA's INDEPENDENCE day.

Can INDIA 🇮🇳 lead & unite the World 🌎?

Two year ago in August 2015  35,000 people from 125 nationalities & countries came to INDIA to celebrate ISKCON 50th year ( Srila Prabhupada's Journey to USA in 1965. He came at age 69 by Cargo ship not to search for wealth and the American dream like most immigrants, but to deliver the message of love of God. Started single handed movement......have transformed millions of people life from 125 nationalities throughout the Globe ). It is proud moments for INDIA to see all 125 nationalities with their national flag seating together in picture below leaded by INDIA......yes INDIA can lead & unite the world....through VEDIC PHILOSOPHY ( deepest spiritual treasure ). INDIA is the birthplace where many sacred ancient scriptures spoken & written since time immemorial.

They had parades together on August 15th-INDIA's INDEPENDENCE day in city of Kolkata with Harinam Sankirtan where 125 nationalities leaded by INDIAN national flag 🇮🇳 in front. All these devotees from different countries, nationalities , religion, costumes, habits, food, language , background, colour...etc came together now become ONE with one Vedic thought, one simple costume, one Sanatana ( means eternal ) Dharma, one simple vegetarian food, one simple lifestyle and one common goal to continue their progress on spiritual journey with concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit word which means "the world is one family". 

Meanwhile ISKCON devotee representatives from 106 different countries broke the world record for a YOGA lesson together by the most nationalities, performing yoga postures padmasana (Lotus Position). Devotee representatives from 105 countries then set a new world record  by singing the prayer in Bengali language together.

India is country of Sages, Saints & Guru with profound spiritual wisdom & many enlightened Soul, country of Yoga & Meditation now desperately needed in every corner of the world to have peace & happiness in everyone's life. Genuine Guru, Saints & Sages have always been committed and invested their valuable time to cultivate Spiritual knowledge & Higher values to transform people life for good.

If we go back in history India had world biggest & oldest university where people from all over the world use to come for higher education especially spiritual wisdom. Nalanda ( and also Takshashila ) University was one of the first universities in the world, founded in the 5th Century BC. 

Yes VEDIC PHILOSOPHY can shape up the individual, family, society, nation.....and the GLOBE 🌎.

FAITH is EVERYTHING:

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” — Thomas Aquinas

Faith is an essential element in life, just like an oxygen is needed for the body similarly faith needed for our survival & progress. Faith isn’t just a notion that some people hold onto in tough times but we need it in every day of our lives. We couldn’t drive our cars without faith, how could we fly in an airplane? Without faith, how can we marry and decide to stay together for a lifetime? How can we can go to car mechanics or physician's office without faith? Outcome of treatment of any disease also depends on physicians-patients faith on Divine. A leap of faith is the act of believing in or accepting something outside of the boundaries of reason.

Similarly without faith we can not progress on path of spiritual journey. Faith is the root of Devotion ( Bhakti ) as Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita

Bg 9.3 — Those who are not faithful in this devotional service cannot attain Me, O conqueror of enemies. Therefore they return to the path of birth and death in this material world. ( Vedabase.com ).

Faith goes beyond the logic, reasoning, and explanations. One who is always suspicious can't lead a happy life either materially or spiritually, “For the doubting soul there is happiness neither in this world nor in the next (BG 4.40)." On path of spiritual journey our faith will be tasted in difficult times of life. When we experience life’s monumental failures, it’s easy to lose hope and faith in Divine (Absolute Truth) and start doubting his abilities, this is a time when our faith starts leaking out unless we have staunch faith in Scriptures & teaching of Spiritual master.

IS SUFFERING INEVITABLE?

Recently in Gujarat, India due to heavy rain & flooding many people & cattle died, many areas drowned & drenched , so much destruction...people have lost their loved one & their properties ...many tragic scenes. This kind of unthinkable tragic events continue in people's life throughout the Globe since time immemorial. IS SUFFERING INEVITABLE? 

Every life on Planet Earth wants to be happy & peaceful all the time. Unfortunately happy moments can not last for long time due to duality nature of the material world means everything rotates in cycle like.....Illness-Recovery, Obstacles-No obstacles, Birth-Death, Success-Failure, Victory-Defeat, Praise-Criticism, Winter-Summer, Monsoon-Drought, Happiness- Sorrowness....etc. People in general struggling or suffering from minor to major issue throughout the life. Everyone of us feels that happy moments are short lived and struggling or suffering moments last little longer ( in our mind ). All of us have some ability to resolve the matter but unfortunately many issues keep bothering us one after another....it is endless. Why we can not able to resolve all the issue permanently and live eternally happy & peaceful on Planet Earth ? Let's look into this matter. 

In Vedic Scriptures synonym for an University is called Vidyalayam means educational institute to get a abundance of knowledge.  Library is known as Grandhalayam means place where you find unlimited numbers of books of Knowledge. Similarly an Earth Planet is described as a Dukhalayam means place where you get endless miseries and Mrityuloka means place where people born to die. In short an Earth Planet is place where people are born for innumerable struggle or suffer and die. 

Vedic Scriptures SB 10.14.58 says padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām:  There is struggle & danger at every steps in our life. How to live & face challenges in this world? Philosophy & Spiritual practices will give us new perspective, understanding, strength, brighter outlook, purpose to live, a new look toward human life as a precious gift, reward, an honour......etc rather then sorrow, misery, punishment or chaotic life....etc.

If we observe this world carefully then realize that every problems of life surrounded by Birth-Death cycle. Once we realize that we are eternal Soul not a Body, WE & OUR LOVED ONE ALWAYS LIVE somewhere in some form with someone, we should don't be fearful and disturbed by changes surrounding us.

Bg 2.13 — As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.

Bg 2.14 — O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed.

Bg 15.7 — The living entities in this conditioned world are My eternal fragmental parts. Due to conditioned life, they are struggling very hard with the six senses, which include the mind.

Bg 18.58 — If you become conscious of Me, you will pass over all the obstacles of conditioned life by My grace. If, however, you do not work in such consciousness but act through false ego, not hearing Me, you will be lost.

I am inspire to hear & read Vedic Scriptures & other philosophy by regularly listening Sri Pandurang Shashtri Athvale known as Dadaji ( speak on Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Veda based discourses & western philosophy ) and association of Swadhyay Parivar every Sunday in Swadhya Kendra. 

FYI: Good source of Vedic literature: Vedabase.com (Srimad Bhagavad Gita is the essence & Srimad Bhagavatam (SB) is the nectar of all Vedic scriptures). Hearing & reading SB daily is purifying to our senses, nourishing & satisfying to our heart ( Soul ) and transcendental to our consciousness.

I also hear and read discourses & articles on Vedic thoughts & other philosophy from Srila Prabhupada, his disciples & grand disciples (Rasamitra Swami, Chaitanya Charandas Prabhu, Sutapa Das, Amarnath Dasa, Bhakticharu Swami,  Urmila Devi Dasi,  Radhanath Swami, Lal Govind Prabhu ( Gujarati & Hindi) Prahalad Maharaj in Surat (Gujarati) .......and many more from ISKCON......). 

I am posting some article based on Vedic scriptures and literature. Of course I use Google search to collect some data. Thanks to Facebook for providing platform.

It is always good idea to share our good thoughts & knowledge with others. Besides my parents, wife, teachers, family & friends GREATFUL to EVERYONE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED in MY LIFE.

Hopefully my enthusiasm will continue by grace of Guru & God (Absolute Truth).
