COPY and PASTE.

Copy and Paste are good commands for your computer but not for your life.

Today in Tech Age world many information available at our fingertips. Whenever and wherever we need can just copy from search engines and paste wherever required. The culture of ‘Ctrl C’ & ‘Ctrl V’ is very rampant so much so that its just available on the right click on your command.

We frequently use these commands while preparing project, presentations, writing articles, assignments etc... difficult to survive without it. There is no problem using ‘copy’ and ‘paste’ commands while making reports or presentations but do not apply same in our life. Many people now a days want to ‘copy’ others lifestyle, hairstyle,  speaking style, dressing style...even in Spirituality and ‘paste’ in their lives, in the name of being well received by others or in the name of fashion. And when they can’t copy completely end up with frustration while comparing themselves with others.

Comparison is a systematic way of undervaluing your uniqueness and indirectly insulting creator. God has created us, if he wanted to make us someone else, he would have rather created some one else and not us. So we need to be grateful for our individuality and focus on ‘our plate’ instead of looking for what’s there in ‘others plate’. Animals can teach humans better in this regard - they focus on what they have but not what they lack.

The Bhagavad Gita (3.35) has something similar to offer, “It is far better to discharge one's prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another's duties perfectly. Destruction in the course of performing one's own duty is better than engaging in another's duties, for to follow another's path is dangerous". And the Gita (18.45) also assures that everyone can attain perfection by working according to one’s nature. We see in Mahabharat also that Pandavas followed this principle and everyone respected each other’s talents. No one tried to copy each other rather they encouraged each other and that was one of the reasons of their victory in the fratricidal war.

While living in this world we need to bring out best within us and use our God-given talents to make constructive contributions and not just live a life filled with ‘copy’ and ‘paste’ and  fulfilling other’s expectations from us.
