WE ARE our OWN GURU.

Besides our parents our teachers play very important roll in our education & overall progress in our life. Of course we need faith in our Guru to progress further and we should be Greatful to our Teacher. But significant growth occurred in any field of life if we have our own desire or quest to learn more especially in Spirituality.

There is Uddhava Gita section in ancient scriptures SB 11th canto 7th chapter (Vedabase.com) one of the sloka says that WE ARE our OWN GURU.
"SB 11.7.20 — An intelligent person, expert in perceiving the world around him and in applying sound logic, can achieve real benefit through his own intelligence. Thus sometimes one acts as one’s own instructing spiritual master".

We need to introspect ourselves that we have lower & higher nature. Lower nature looks for short term material benefits to improve our living standards called "Preya", while higher nature is inquiring about higher spiritual truths called "Shreya". Human with higher nature will think about sacrificing for others while people with lower nature remain busy in maintaining & entertaining themselves. Darwin philosophy is all about survival of fittest, yes true applicable to all species, but there is much more to offer in human species besides survival of fittest. In human life most appealing or pleasing to our hearts is Sacrificed by Fittest.

WE CAN FIND OURSELVES by THINKING ABOUT OTHERS.
There are many temptation throughout our life can hampered our progress, with lower nature we can succumbed in this world. With our spiritual intelligence & strength we can control our lower nature & temptations. Our soul can be our own Guru and can direct our life.

Bg 3.43 — Thus knowing oneself to be transcendental to the material senses, mind and intelligence, O mighty-armed Arjuna, one should steady the mind by deliberate spiritual intelligence  and thus – by spiritual strength – conquer this insatiable enemy known as lust.
We can educate ourselves through 1. Scriptures & Spiritual master , they are like front head light of car can guide us what is coming in future with our action & behavior. 2. Our own or surroundings past experiences is like a rear back light of car, by looking back our journey we learn from our past experiences and we can plan our future life accordingly.
Some of our lower nature or qualities inherited through our genes described as inheritance characteristics. But we as a human have much more potential to supersede our lower inheritance qualities and acquire higher spiritual truth. Lower species dose not have these capability, they just remain busy only in eating-sleeping-mating and defending. Scriptures are like spike guard or surge protector helps us to develop understanding & tolerance to protect us from temptation. We can fall down from our temptation but we should not fall away, our journey should continue to find out about higher spiritual truths.
